Picking Up Your Email
Email sent to your domain will not be stored on interLink's normal
email server. Instead, it is stored on our web hosting server.
You can set up your email accounts to forward to your interLink mailbox,
if you wish. Or, you can pick up your domain-based email from our
web hosting server.
To use the web-based email, go to http://webmail.virtual.ilhawaii.net
and follow the directions. Remember to put in your entire email
address, including your domain name.
To use your existing email program, the two main changes are:
- Use 'mail.yourdomain.com' as the incoming mail server.
- Use 'youremail@yourdomain.com' as the login or user id.
(Use your actual domain name, not 'yourdomain.com')
IMPORTANT:
Check your mail before sending mail. With most popular email programs, this
is done automatically when you click on "Send/Receive".
For full details on setting up your email program, please go to the mail
setup page.
Uploading Your Site
Home page naming conventions
Your home page must be called one of the following: index.htm, index.html,
index.shtml, index.phtml, index.php or index.php3.
Location of files
Any files (other than CGI scripts) that are to be viewed by the public
must be placed in your public directory (or a subdirectory of public).
If you place files in a directory other than public, only you will
have access to them. CGI scripts are placed in your cgi-bin
directory. These two directories have been created for you
automatically. Do not move them or change their names.
Using FTP
The site you are connecting to is your domain name. The username
is also your domain name, and the password is the one you use for website
management. After
connecting with FTP, don't forget to move into the public directory for
your html files, or the cgi-bin directory for your CGI programs.
Using Front Page
After configuring your site for Front Page, using the Web Manager, you
can publish to www.yourdomain.com without any special changes. (Use
your actual domain name, not 'yourdomain.com') You
do not need to create a special 'public' directory; your files will be
uploaded into the correct directories by Front Page.
WARNING: When you enable Front Page, you disable FTP. If you
need to use FTP for any reason, you will have to un-install Front Page
first. You can then re-install it after you're finished using
FTP.
Using the Free Order Processor
Please follow the instructions here
and contact us when you're
ready to link your order form to your site.
Using SSL
To enable SSL on your website, use the online website manager and
click on "SSL Manager".
Two special folders are created for you when you enable SSL. The secure
folder contains HTML and images and the secure-cgi-bin folder
contains CGI programs you want to run securely.
To access files in your secure directory using SSL, the URL
is https://www.securewebexchange.com/yourdomain.com/
To access the CGI programs in your secure-cgi-bin directory,
the URL is
https://www.securewebexchange.com/yourdomain.com/cgi-bin/.
(Use your actual domain name, not 'yourdomain.com')
